Teenager's perspective: The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the picture, is that I thought it was a commercial promo trying to showcase thier new beach resort because of the bare muscles shown. Dont get me wrong, a grown up especially teenager would enjoy looking at a hunk!
On the other side, growing up with my sisters and brothers were high moral values was taught upon us by our parents, it kind a loss the effect of the commercial because of the wrong perception it posed!
I think, it would be nice if the commercial experts can deliver a more appealing model but in good taste.
Another way could be a commercial showing just the different line of bench products and the model describing it one a time. Like showing a picture of the product in a big way. Try it and it might work..

In todays world of competetive commercials about different clothes items displayed and trying to be sold, it is probably just one of the technique that is used in this type of ads.
The customers can just choose whatever is suitable for their own taste.
One way of looking at it is, it is just another picture of a product for sale. Either you elect to buy it or not, it's really up to you.

There are numerous fashion designs and it is shown to the public with different variations.
A fashion show of bench underwears can just be it! The picture is a classic example of the way bench management have chosen to advertised their products. It is almost impossible to pleased all the viewers and or customers. Some are offended and to others it is just plain business with no malice implied.
We must have an open mind to choose what we want to view and or watch. The freedom provided to us by our constitution allows us to make choices. Its up to us make our own decision. In the business world it is purely economics, but in another world, it can be perceived the wrong way. Make a wise decision for yourself. There are plenty to choose from...

Distinguishing a good product that will probably suit your needs can be done by making a good selection as shown in the commercial. The model is not the one for sale but merely a tool by the bench people to advertise many of their products.
Having an open mind can help the customers make good choices on which one is best for them.

Did this commercial stayed long being aired in different channels?
I was wondering because when I saw this commercial the very first time,it caught my curiosity on what product could this be?.
But later,I wondered how many people would buy the low rise jeans when in fact only 2% of the population have a model-like body of Sam Milbys.
If bench wants to sell more jeans. They should advertise something like showing they have products even for big size people.

Commercial diversification and descrimination: Having Sam Milby as the main model for this ad is good. However, would you think that by using other resource models can enhance the effectivity of the commercial?
It seems that some commercial descrimination was employed in this particular ad! How about model diversification from all walks of life.
One can only argue that using one model which is coming from the celebrity pool is insufficient. Why not try some of the famous politician like Mike Defensor or Senator Zubiri? How about the common people like the sales person? Dr. Calayan can also participate in this joint venture!
Commercial model diversification can capture the heart of the Filipinos using the bench products.
Does bench management have something in this regard? A challenging aspect in commercial industry.

Competetive edge perhaps is the driving force in which the bench commercial management had in mind when they did this commercial. A point of view coming from the same side of the fence allows us to engaged in raising the bar or one more notch to reach our objective. That is choosing the right model for the right job and at the right time. Sam Milby happens to be a hot commodity in Television as well as in the movie industry. Bench made the correct choice I think to bolster their image in commercial advertisement to remain one of the top brand in clothes item such as jeans and underwear. I too would do the same if given the same break as they are.

I always thought that commercials like these are very humorous, especially when lola was the one getting hot and bothered. Everyone knows that sex sells in advertising, but coupled with some humor makes it more palatable, and memorable.

Okaaayyy... so what exactly was the abruption supposed to show? That Sam Milby appeared to be naked and then you see him wearing low rise jeans in the end? Or is the point of the abruption supposed to show him as a hottie but then he still has "some sense of modesty" since he's wearing low - rise denims?

For one thing, Bench ads always bordered on the sexual side of things when advertising their clothes but that's just about it! Just pure and plain simple sexual implicit content. Second, I suppose they think that sex grabs attention when advertising products (Really?! There are still people who think that?!).

The point is this, do advertisers (or client companies for that matter) still think that sex sells? If so, why? I've seen ads that try using sex to sell their product but all they do is end up putting the product and/or the execution out of context. In the case of this commercial, well, what do you guys think? Is the idea in context because low rise denims are meant to be sexy? Or do you suppose there are other ways to sell the product without resorting to such means? Or perhaps, the most interesting question is this: Suppose you don't have the faintest idea of what low rise denims are and you see this commercial. What would you think of it? Would it prompt you to buy the product after seeing it as something that makes you look hot? Or would you rather not choose to buy it? (Who in his right mind would go out shirtless and expose their body in public anyway? You don't go out wearing jeans only right?)

this is so disturbing! and to think that they are portraying women going to church! now how dirty can they get?!

It's funny. Bench sells clothes but their ads seem to sell skin instead. How sad (and disappointing).

This ad is so deceiving! it deserves to be spank all the way! To some people it is accepatable, but to many, it is undesirable.

Selling jeans is routine and classified as ordinary in the marketing field. Selecting a model wearing a low cut design such as Sam Milby perhaps was the right choice at the time the ad was made. But the aftermath of the ads received so many criticisms and undesirable comments from the public. Bench management should exercise extreme caution next time they make similar ads. I too was not too sure of what to think when I first viewed this ad! Then after watching it in full context, I said, you got to be kidding me! I mean I buy my pants but not going to the same level as the Bench advertisers..
