Under our consititution, it allows the advertisers to display ads that will entice the customers to buy their product. If many of us believed that some of this ads are in poor taste or I should say "unethical," then we should take them to court! On the other hand, if just a few of us are just merely voicing our opinions with disgust, then perhaps I suggest that we do something for these advertisers to hear our side. An example of action that we can do is to get a permit to rally against it! Another option is for us to fabricate brochures stating our opinions concerning the bad ads (unethical, poor taste, etc.), and distribute it to the public using volunteers. Finally, we can also make a recommendation to amend the existing adsvertising law specifically addressing what is "unethical."

In todays business world, making money is the main objective of most businessmen/women. Advertising is only one type of business out there that has a competetive market. In contrast to our differing opinions about unethical ads, in the business perspective, it is done without malice nor an intent by the advertisers to degrade our customers ability to make choices! Censorships is strongly adhered by most of us, and in no terms that we intend to invoke unethical standards in making ads. It is very subjective and like you, we also have the utmost responsibility to choose what is appropriate. Your comments and views concerning our ads are welcome. We can assure the general public that we in the advertising industry will do our best to make our customers happy.

Spank the St**id FRENZY ads!! Damn! I hate their ads!! What the hell are they trying to tell their market? That its okay to have pre-marital sex as long as you have a frenzy in your pocket! The "party condom". Wow. It's just plain pragmatism on their part.

One of the biggest billboards at Edsa Guadalupe bridge is showing Bench Ad with actor Dingdong Abansano just wearing briefs.
Too much flesh showing!Though he is handsome, the totality of the picture is lewd!
Needs to be spankd! ASAP.

The television ad of Axe is very degrading to women, showing too much flesh...it seems that women are always after men!Connoting sex.
Women should be respected.
Women nowadays are professionals, educated,Spiritually minded, great mothers. Please SPANK the AXE commercial for depicting women as sex slaves!

I saw a commercial on T.V. with a Lady actress Iza calsado dancing on the table, teasing, the male while he is drinking hard liquor.
It might me a commercial of Ginebra, a gin or a brandy.
See... the name of the product did not even register in my mind. But the lewd act in the commercial remained. It's sad. That commercial should be spank'd!

I noticed that most of the ads that you spank use sex to sell. Do you also consider spanking ads that manipulate or deceive the audience? What are your criteria in spanking an ad?

Anonymous said...

@ jox...

ei jox, thanks for visiting. i agree .. most of the ads we have spank'd are sexually implicit ads. some of the ads we posted were requested by our viewers. we have posted some manipulative and discriminatory ads. the enfakid commercial, dove pro-aging print ad, and bingo biscuits ads are examples of ads we have posted that don't have any sexual connotation. most of our criteria are based on the advertising code of ethics and of course the ethical principles we have learned in our ethics classes. :)

A big billboard of Palmers cocoa cream along EDSA towards guadalupe bridge from makati is showing a naked lady, with just a small strip of cloth covering the breasts & her private part.
It surely attracts drivers and commuters beacause its unusually big commercial.Like a cover page of Playboy magazine!
Due to too much skin exposure, please spank the Palmers cocoa butter cream commercial.

hello readers! thanks for all your comments and suggestions. we have already spank'd the bench, frenzy, and belo ad. thanks for bringing them to our attention.

at anonymous who suggested the palmers billboard to be spank'd:

i have already seen the palmers cocoa cream billboard. i didn't know the name of the brand because i was distracted and disgusted with the visual of the lady and the logo was too small to read. thanks to the description you gave i can pinpoint which billboard you were referring to even if i don't know what "palmers cocoa cream" is. our team will see to it that we get a hold of a copy of the billboard and we'll post it in this blog after. it truly deserves to be spank'd

@ Lisha:

I have seen the Metrobank Billboard tons of times ever since the "Woman on top" Campaign was released. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it (when you look at it in the context of something that connotes something sexual). There is no double connotation or "sexual entendre" to the copy of the advertisement.

However, there still is something wrong with it when you look at it in a philosophical point of view. The copy of the advertisement conveys that women would be in "power" when they "use" Metrobank Mastercard because they would be able to purchase anything they would want to. This is wrong because it may promote materialism in the target audience of Metrobank.
